About The Project

The Greater Spokane League

This website serves as the central hub for high school athletics in the Spokane area, covering 17 schools and providing updates on sports, athletes, and league events.

The site is designed to keep athletes, coaches, parents, and the community informed with real-time updates, schedules, and athlete features.

A key feature of the site is the Athlete of the Week program, sponsored by Providence Health Care, which highlights standout student-athletes from each school. To streamline this process, a private login system allows athletic directors to update their school’s pages and submit new honorees through a simple front-end form.

Built for efficiency and scalability, the website is structured to handle high traffic volumes while maintaining an intuitive, user-friendly experience. It provides each school with a dedicated page, ensuring that content is organized, easy to manage, and regularly updated. Other major sponsors include EWU and STCU.

What I Did

I rebuilt the Greater Spokane League website from the ground up, moving it from Divi to Elementor for a cleaner design and better performance. I also migrated it to a private VPS server to improve speed, reliability, and security.

To make things easier for athletic directors, I set up a private login system where they can upload a new Athlete of the Week without messing with the rest of the site. I also built an archive for past winners, sponsored by Providence Health Care, so everything stays organized and easy to find.

Each school now has its own custom page that athletic directors can update without breaking the site, using a front-end submission system. I’ve handled everything from backend server management to front-end design, layouts, and ongoing maintenance, making sure the site runs smoothly and stays easy to use.
